End of Year One

So that's fifty two episodes of Shadow uploaded and as of tomorrow Shadow will officially be one year old as a piece of web fiction.  This is quite an achievement for me.  I knew I had about forty weeks of material ready before I started posting it, but the vast majority of that was just in paper printouts and had to be typed up again before it could be of use to anyone - and I hate transcribing, even if it is beneficial to the editing process - so even before we got to the end of the existing Shadow material there was some doubt in my mind as to whether I could keep up the weekly updates.  Somehow I managed to keep the flow and though my backlog has now diminished from ten episodes to zero (with some help from NaNoWriMo) the weekly updates are still happening.

As my other, mostly abandoned blog Seraphic Worlds stated at the time, I turned Shadow over to be a piece of web fiction in response to having watched Julie and Julia (of all things) and it was kind of a belated New Years resolution/experiment, just to see if I could.  To be typing this a year later, then, is a real privilege for me and, if I'm honest, a complete surprise.

So, as is traditional at this time I would like to thank all of you who have continued to read Shadow throughout the past year, bearing with me when I've presented you with filler and coming back to read what has happened next to Ellis and his friends.  I know some of you, but many others remain a mystery to me.  I hope, in the next year of Shadow's existence, to change that.  I'd love to know who is reading this stuff and I'd love to know what you think about it.  Comments and suggestions, questions and complaints are always welcome, regardless of what they are about or how grand they may seem.  I want to make Shadow bigger and better this year and I know you all can help.

Thank you for indulging me and thank you for reading,

Chris (Seraph) George.
